Overview
Kalam is a handwriting-style typeface supporting the Devanagari and Latin scripts. Its letterforms have a distinctive steep slant from top right to bottom left, resembling rapid handwriting with a thin felt-tip or ballpoint pen. The Devanagari characters include open knotted terminals and some closed counters, enhancing the impression of swift writing. The family includes three weights—Light, Regular, and Bold—each containing 1,025 glyphs to cover major Devanagari conjuncts and a basic Western Latin set. This makes Kalam suitable for typesetting in English and many Western European languages while maintaining a fresh, personal feel on screen or print.
